What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — like whether you are signed in — so you do not have to re-enter details on every page. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses, and they are not linked to any personally identifiable information beyond what you have provided to Laivara.

How Laivara uses cookies

We keep our cookie footprint deliberately small. Every cookie we set has a specific, documented purpose. We group them into three categories:

EssentialAlways active — cannot be disabled

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the website and app to function. They handle authentication (keeping you signed in across pages) and security (CSRF protection). Without them, core features like logging in and saving settings would not work. We do not need your consent to set these.

AnalyticsOpt-out available

Analytics cookies help us understand how people use Laivara — which pages are visited most, where visitors drop off, and how features are discovered. All data is aggregated and anonymous: we never tie analytics events to your account or email address. You can opt out at any time through our preference centre below.

PreferenceOpt-out available

Preference cookies remember choices you make about the site experience — such as your selected UI theme (light or dark) and display language. Disabling them means these settings will reset each time you visit.

What we do not use

We want to be explicit about the tracking technologies we deliberately avoid:

  • No third-party advertising cookies — we run no ad networks and share no data with advertisers
  • No cross-site tracking pixels or fingerprinting scripts
  • No social media tracking widgets embedded in our pages
  • No session-replay tools that record mouse movements or keystrokes
  • No retargeting or behavioural profiling of any kind

How to manage cookies

You have two ways to control cookies on Laivara:

Our preference centre

Use the consent banner that appears on your first visit to accept all cookies or to selectively enable Analytics and Preference cookies. Your choices are saved in the lv_consent cookie for one year. You can change your preferences at any time — just clear the lv_consent cookie to see the banner again.

Browser settings

All modern browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to Laivara. Find instructions for your browser:

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our own practices. Material changes will be communicated by email and noted with a revised effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Laivara after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
